The Ministry of Transport and Public Works (MTOP) presented the road works that include the interchange between routes 8 and 11 and the double track section in the first, from the second to the Soca tollbooth. The head of the portfolio, José Luis Falero, stressed the importance of inaugurating the works before the end of the year, due to the increase in traffic in the area. The investment was 10,000,000 dollars.
“We cannot allow tourism to come and that has not been finished,” emphasized Falero.
On the occasion, he valued the company’s effort to finish on time and reported that a bridge was added to the double track, so that where there was one before, there are now two. He also pointed out that two kilometers of double track were built on route 8, in the section between route 11 and the Soca tollbooth.
The minister also explained that the works were carried out in a period of close to a year and that they involved complex infrastructure work, since a roundabout system had also to be implemented under the bridge.
Falero reported that the project was financed with the toll concession itself, after specifying an extension of the term to obtain the necessary resources, which are around 10,000,000 dollars.
“It was fully enabled, in final conditions of completion. It is a first stage of the work on Route 8, which has progress but is not finished,” said the Secretary of State.
