The Cicpc reported the arrest of Brayan Smith Castillo Montoya (19), who allegedly beat his one-year-old stepson to death. The baby’s mother, a 16-year-old teenager, was also detained.
The director of the Cicpc, commissioner Douglas Rico, provided the information through his radio program from where he specified that the event occurred in San Fernando de Apure on June 16.
That day, the little boy’s mother and stepfather took him to the hospital in the capital of Apureña where they said that he was broken. A few hours later, the minor Camilo Franco died.
The death of the child was reported by the doctors to the Cicpc, whose officials witnessed the autopsy that showed blows with the hands and blunt objects in addition to sexual abuse, said Commissioner Rico.
According to testimonies from neighbors, the child was continually mistreated by the young couple.
Mother and stepfather were handed over to the Public Ministry.
