More than one million 400 influenza vaccines have been applied in Panama

A total of 1,495,972 doses of the influenza vaccine nationwide have been applied this 2022, through the Expanded Immunization Program (PAI) of the Ministry of Health (Minsa).

According to the recent report, revealed this Wednesday, a total of 1,139,180 doses were placed at the Minsa facilities, while 356,792 vaccines were applied at the Social Security Fund.

The data from the PAI reveal that the Metropolitan Region maintains the highest number in the application of doses with a total of 369,162 followed by the province of Chiriquí with 178,383.

Panama Oeste continues with a total of 121,409; the Ngäbe-Buglé region that applied 116, 341; Coclé placing 113,024; while Veraguas 105,546; the San Miguelito region 90,570; Colon 83,209; Bocas del Toro 77,732; East Panama Region 52,872; Herrera 52,825; North Panama 52,804; Los Santos 35,973; Darien 25,306 and Guna Yala with 20,815.

The Minsa reiterated to the population the importance of maintaining self-care measures to avoid the disease since it tends to spread rapidly in the form of seasonal epidemics. At the same time he urged them to go to get their corresponding dose.

According to the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), influenza infection generally lasts a week and is characterized by the sudden onset of high fever, muscle aches, headache, severe malaise, dry cough, sore throat, and rhinitis.
