More than 1,300 vehicles have circulated on the Atanasio Girardot bridge after its inauguration

Through its website, Migration Colombia specified that Venezuelan private vehicles that want to enter that country must prove the property title or document from the Venezuelan authority that proves ownership; the equivalent insurance policy and the identification plates of the nation of origin, as well as guaranteeing that the vehicle(s) are in optimal mechanical and safety conditions

Transportation Minister Ramón Velásquez reported that 1,361 vehicles, including cars and motorcycles, have circulated on the Atanasio Girardot binational bridge, also known as Tienditas —which connects Venezuela with Colombia—, since it was inaugurated on January 1.

Velásquez gave the information on the afternoon of January 2 through his account on the social network Twitter. “More than 977 vehicles and 384 motorcycles have circulated after the opening of the Atanasio Girardot bridge yesterday between Venezuela and Colombia,” wrote the head of the ministerial portfolio.

The official shared a photograph and a video in which a line of vehicles can be seen waiting their turn to go through the bridge access ticket offices.

With the inauguration of the binational access, Venezuela and Colombia consummated the “total opening” of their border. The measure contemplates the transit of vehicles of all kinds, something that has not happened since 2015.

Commercial operations are supervised, on the Venezuelan side, by 18 government institutions, which guarantee that the procedures comply with the regulations of each nation, as reported this Sunday by the governor of Táchira, Freddy Bernal.

According to a note published on the website of Colombian Migration on December 30, 2022, Venezuelan private vehicles that want to enter Colombian territory must prove the property title or document from the Venezuelan authority that proves ownership; the SOAT or equivalent insurance policy, with the same protection and coverage characteristics; the identification plates of the country of origin and be in optimal mechanical and safety conditions.
