The Undersecretary of the Interior, Manuel Monsalve, will travel this Friday afternoon to the Region of Arica and Parinacota. The authority will first visit the Chacalluta Border Complex, 10 days after a mob of immigrants tried to enter the country through that crossing. Likewise, he will meet with representatives of the police and Armed Forces to “strengthen security on the northern border.”
“The President of the Republic, the Minister of the Interior, have considered it necessary for us to first visit the Chacalluta Border Complex, to the landmarks where the Chilean State has control points on the border,” Monsalve said in a video.

Let us remember that on November 30, close to 100 immigrants tried to enter the country through the Chacalluta Border Complex. “The protocols that are in force by law were activated, both the PDI and the Carabineros presented the necessary support so that this situation could have the necessary control that the law requires,” said the president of the region at the time, Richard Sanzana.
Monsalve also indicated that he will meet with the Carabineros, the Investigative Police (PDI), the Armed Forces and the Public Ministry in Arica, with the aim of evaluating “all the necessary measures to strengthen our security on the northern border.”
Monsalve will travel to the north in the company of the Undersecretary of Defense, Gabriel Gaspar.
