The Ministry of Health (Minsa) confirmed that the swab centers and health regions throughout the country have sufficient diagnostic tests to meet the demand of users of the service that has been presented in recent days due to the increase in infections by Covid-19.

He indicated that on instructions from the Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, the Medical Services Provision Directorate received 50,000 rapid antigen tests by immunochromatography and 37,500 antigen tests by immunofluorescence, which have already been distributed in response to requests from each region of Health.

By next week the institution will receive 150,000 rapid immunochromatographic antigen tests and 270,000 immunofluorescence antigen tests, which will allow it to continue to supply the demand of the 15 health regions.

Additionally, through the Service Provision Directorate, a new acquisition of approximately 300,000 more antigen tests by immunofluorescence and 100,000 rapid antigen tests by immunochromatography is being prepared.

According to the latest epidemiology report from the Minsa, Panama has applied 4,604,218 swab tests, making the country one of the countries in the region that performs more diagnostic tests for Covid-19.
