Minister Izkia Siches accuses segregation in justice and mayor of Las Condes responds: "Do not fall into hateful caricatures"

Within the framework of the Icare 2022 Political Agenda forum, the Minister of the Interior, Izkia Sichesquestioned the national justice system, pointing to economic and social segregation, comparing the district of Las Condes with La Pintana and the region of La Araucanía.

At the meeting -which the head of the Interior attended telematically due to the fact that she suffers from Covid-19-, Siches defended the withdrawal of 139 complaints under the State Security Law, filed in the context of the social outbreak.

“Why can there be prison benefits for the entire population that are governed and regulated, but in some cases not?” questioned the Secretary of State.

“If I catch a person next to a crime and it is in Las Condes, he is blond and has a last name, nothing happens; If I caught that person in La Pintana and he’s poor, I’ll take him into custody; If I catch him in La Araucanía, I take him into custody, I raid his house, I grab the children and violent an entire community”, he continued.

“That is a judicial system that you have to go look at, because that creates this sensation of differences and that hurts us as a country. It divides us, segregates us and gives the feeling that there is no justice that is homogeneous and that it is not my justice and that I do not recognize it as such,” added Siches.

The mayor of Las Condes, Daniela Penaloza, answered the head of the Interior. “Minister Siches, do not use the name of our commune to divert the focus from reality: withdrawal of complaints, amnesty for criminals and Sunday permission for terrorists. Don’t fall for hateful cartoons and take charge,” she commented on Twitter.
