“We have worked a lot on the subject of flagrante delicto because either the neighbor notifies us at 1403 and we arrive in two minutes and we know where they are escaping, so they are chased and we do not capture the entire gang, but we capture one and that helps to move forward with the investigation. Or we know they are coming and we chase them before they arrive because they have already done something wrong elsewhere,” Merino explains.
In this sense, the mayor maintains that the criminals travel through different communes for several hours and “they accumulate cars, they steal one in Maipú, then they go to Providencia or they go to Puente Alto and then they go to Vitacura.” So the complaints are of the utmost importance because there is a record that can be useful to catch those involved.
“In minutes we all have to know, if the municipalities have information, the highways also have it, it has to be everywhere which car participates in the acts of violence,” reaffirms the mayoress.
