Former President of Peru Martín Vizcarra confirmed his presence for this November 29 before the Supervisory and Comptroller Commission of the Congress of the Republic.
Through a statement, Vizcarra specified that he will be present “to appear before the investigative commission on November 29 at 8:30 am.”
“Regarding the official letter of reference, through which I am summoned to appear before the investigative commission on November 29, 2022 at 8:30 a.m. and in attention to article 8 of the American Convention on Human Rights, which enshrines the right to Every person to be heard, I confirm my participation, ”says the former President of the Republic in the document sent in response to Héctor Ventura, president of the supervisory body.
“Without any other particular, I make the opportunity to express my esteem and personal consideration to you,” concludes Vizcarra.
Irregularities in its management
The reason for the summons is the alleged irregular purchases by the Government of Vizcarra during the health emergency caused by COVID-19. For his part, Ventura pointed out that the former head of state has “little interest” in collaborating with the investigations.
Some days ago, Vizcarra attended the headquarters of the Legislative Palace to comply with his summons before the Oversight Commission. However, he had to withdraw since, as he indicated, the assigned group took a long time to attend to him and, therefore, he specified that “like every citizen” he deserves respect.
