Within the framework of the swearing-in ceremony of the Combatant Corps, the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, signed the decree activating the Comprehensive Defense Body of Venezuela (ODI), which has the mission of protecting the nation from internal and foreign threats that threaten peace.
The proposal for this decree was formulated by the Superior General Staff, with the purpose of protecting the Venezuelan people, the institutions of the State and the integrity and security of the nation.
The ODI is made up of all the Popular Political Power, the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), the Militia and the Police Forces, to be activated starting this Tuesday in all states, municipalities and parishes, to guarantee peace.
President Maduro’s announcement comes after he announced the capture of 7 new foreign mercenaries “including two Colombian hitmen and three mercenaries from Ukraine”, who had orders to disturb the peace and attack people and institutions in the days before the inauguration of the president.
“We are more united than ever to protect the peace and stability of our Homeland,” said the head of state before representatives of the Combatant Corps who were sworn in in front of the Miraflores Palace this Tuesday.
