“We have to have the capacity to mitigate the rains, so that our people are protected,” he said. He added that they must have the forecasts, the machinery and the capacity for action.

Maduro insisted that the Venezuelan people “know that they are not alone, they know that they have us to embrace them, accompany them and care for them.”

According to Maduro, specific plans have been designed to deal with rains in the 8 Strategic Regions of Integral Defense (REDI).

During the broadcast this Thursday, the president announced that Vice President Delcy Rodríguez will be in charge of the Presidential Commission to face the dangers and threats of the El Niño phenomenon in the country.

He emphasized the call to work as a team and the tasks that he said must be carried out in the midst of civil-military and police operations. He also asked to address the effects of climate change.

“Climate change is a reality. Capitalism destroyed the minimum equilibrium conditions for the survival of the collective human being on the planet earth », he pointed out.

Maduro instructs on plans

During the broadcast, Maduro acknowledged that “the rainy season has started strongly in some states. Hence his emphasis on ordering the implementation of preventive measures in risk areas.

For her part, the mayoress of Caracas, Carmen Teresa Meléndez, pointed out that in the city there are 137 ravines to which preventive work has been carried out. She also indicated that the Risk Staffs were installed.

“We have done preventive work for two months at various points,” said Meléndez.

This Thursday, the “Andes 2023 Task Force” was activated to address the situation caused by the rains in Mérida, Táchira and Trujillo. According to the Minister of Electric Power and Vice President of Public Works and Services, Néstor Reverol Torres, the deployment of this force covers the areas of infrastructure, services and the Humanitarian Task Force.

“The Andes 2023 Task Force is valid for all regions of the country to the extent that situations occur during the rainy season,” said Reverol.

Pereira pointed out that Inameh has forecast between 55 and 65 tropical waves. Also, as of June 1, the tropical cyclone season begins.
