The former Uruguayan president José Mujica went to Brazil and visited his friend, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. There, the Brazilian president gave a particular gift to the leader of the Popular Participation Movement: a photo of when they both rode together in the Uruguayan’s fusca.
“It is a pleasure to receive our friend Pepe Mujica and the international unions today to talk about the challenges of the union movement and workers. We need to rethink relations in the world of work and recover the rights and dignity of workers,” Lula tweeted this Wednesday, March 1.
Mujica went to Brasilia to participate in the international seminar “Democracy, regional integration and the fight against neo-fascism”. Along with him were Celso Amorin, Lula’s adviser —former foreign minister and defense minister— and the Brazilian Antono Lisboa, general secretary of the International Trade Union Center (ITUC), which integrates 120 million workers.
Its about third meeting that Mujica and Lula have held since the assumption of the latter. The first was, precisely, during his assumption, on January 1 in Brasilia; then it was in Montevideo, when the former president received the Brazilian in his farm, on January 25and finally this time when Mujica traveled to Brazil again.
In this way, this time Lula gave his “friend Mujica” the “souvenir” of his last visit to Uruguay: the photo that both took in the fusca of the former president.
Present to friend Mujica, my last visit to Uruguay.
