Lula: Let them choose the president they want, I am interested in the relationship between States

Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said he had no reason to fight politically with Venezuela, Nicaragua or Argentina, since the relationship between the countries is more important than that of the governments in power

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said on Friday, July 19, that he has no reason to “fight” politically with countries like Nicaragua, Argentina and Venezuela, since in his opinion the most important thing is the relationship between States beyond who is governing a nation.

“Why should I fight with Venezuela, Nicaragua or Argentina? Let them elect the presidents they want. What interests me is the relationship between states,” said Lula, adding that everyone likes his country and the opposite should happen.

In this regard, he stressed that Brazil has no disputes with any other State.

Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said last Tuesday, July 9 During his official visit to Bolivia, he said that the “normalization of political life” in Venezuela means stability in the region, and asked that the results of the upcoming elections “be recognized by all.”

“A good functioning of Mercosur, which now has the satisfaction of welcoming Bolivia as a full member, contributes to common prosperity. We also hope to be able to welcome Venezuela back very quickly. The normalization of Venezuelan political life means stability for all of South America. That is why we hope that the elections will take place peacefully and that the results will be recognized by all,” said the Brazilian president.

TO early June, Lula da Silva warned the administration of Nicolás Maduro about the importance of electoral observation for these presidential elections, scheduled for July 28, after the Venezuelan National Electoral Council announced the withdrawal of the invitation to the European Union to deploy an observation mission.

The president also reiterated Brazil’s support for the Barbados Accords, and together with Colombian President Gustavo Petro, expressed his “concern” about the obstacles imposed on the registration of opposition candidates for these elections.
