The deputy to the National Assembly (AN) for Avanzada Progresista, Luis Romero, assured that holding the opposition primary elections without the technical assistance of the National Electoral Council (CNE) will be “a high-risk bet.”
“That bet that four thousand voting centers and six thousand polling stations are installed without the use of educational centers is irresponsible. In my opinion, this is going to generate a great internal confrontation between all the pre-candidates, ”said Romero during his participation in the program“ A Pulso ”broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión (VTV).
He indicated that the candidate who wins the primary elections on October 22 will not enjoy the support of the defeated contenders. “That will be so because, instead of joining, they go home or work against the one he won,” he warned.
He rejected that some pre-candidates such as Henrique Capriles Radonski continue to generate “false expectations” for opposition voters, because the Automated Nomination System (SAP) of the National Electoral Council blocks citizens who have objections or disqualifications from the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic.
“The opposition cannot fall into that comb, into that trap, and it has to ride with the horses that are enabled, with which they can run. However, in those primaries, our Avanzada Progresista party decided not to participate, ”he said.
Political failure of opposition sectors
During the interview, deputy Luis Romero maintained that the radical sectors of the opposition have been failing politically for 22 years and, in his opinion, this fact has generated “deep fatigue” against their leadership.
“I tell you one thing: there is a deep fatigue against that opposition that has 22 years of failure. Now, we have an emerging leadership that is making its way with its community work and in the popular sectors. We will be able to see these emerging votes in the year 2024,” he stated.
He reported that Avanzada Progresista is evaluating Antonio Ecarri as an “emerging leadership” for the upcoming presidential elections. He added that “I could never support a candidacy, party or proposal that includes sanctions that punish the Venezuelan people. For this reason, Avanzada Progresista distanced itself from the parties that make up the unitary platform”.
Finally, Deputy Luis Romero stated that the opposition primary elections must be carried out automatically. “In Venezuela it was clear enough that manual processes are three hundred times more corrupt than automated ones, it is bad advice from some politicians,” he stressed.
