Through a statement released on Twitter on the night of March 15, the observatory warned about the “use of elements of disinformation and false news to support narratives contrary to human rights.”
The Venezuelan Observatory of Lgbti Violence recalled that its objective is to contribute to the construction of a society free of violence and discrimination.
“Only from respectful dialogue and the deconstruction of prejudices can this be a reality, for this reason we place ourselves at the order of the different spokespersons to generate conversations aimed at building trust and respect,” he said.

The alert expressed by the non-governmental organization arose days after the leader of the Primero Justicia (PJ) party Julio Montoya said that he will promote a national movement “in defense of the family, traditions and life”, which will go head-on against abortion, a procedure that feminist organizations have demanded be legalized, and demands for the rights of trans people that the Lgbti community.
Also on March 9, the secretary of the University of Carabobo (UC), Pablo Aure, launched criticism against the Lgbti community and questioned the rights that it demands, such as marriage.
The statements were made during a vocational talk to students in the fifth year of high school at the YMCA educational institution in Valencia.
