The new work began its operations on April 14, after three years of works and a total investment of US$ 3,470 million, which also included a deep water port terminal in Montevideo, the construction of the third eucalyptus nursery of the company in Sarandí del Yí, and investments in infrastructure and local facilities in the interior of the country.
During the construction process of the plant 20,000 Uruguayans were employed and 300 national companies participated in the work. The concrete used is equivalent to building more than 20 Centennial stadiumsand the amount of steel used in the construction of 10 Eiffel towers.
The industrial complex has an annual production capacity of 2.1 million tons of pulp per yearwhich will be transferred in the new Central Railway to Montevideoand that until the completion of that work it arrives in 200 trucks per day to the capital.
