In addition, Cesar Chavez commented that these problems occur more consistently in patients who have had moderate to severe atypical pneumonia and have not received proper treatment. “There are patients who have not received treatment in an Intensive Care Unit, so their recovery has not been the most adequate, presenting problems such as pulmonary fibrosis,” she said.

Chavez Gonzales indicated that another group prone to post-Covid sequelae are patients who had lung damage greater than 50%, patients who were not treated by specialists and required hospitalization, people with lung damage prior to the virus, and overweight and obese citizens.

The doctor indicated that patients should continue to have the necessary care after overcoming the disease, because cases of re-contagion have been reported in less than a month after the . “We have cases of people who were infected in January presenting all the symptoms of the omicron and for the first weeks of February, they presented the symptoms again as a result of a reinfection”he explained.

The Carrión hospital has post-covid rehabilitation services, with a whole team of professionals who seek to ensure that patients can recover their lung capacity to the fullest. “We have a whole team that follows up on patients even a year and a half after they were discharged”he pointed out.
