The ANEP resolved, this June 28, that the winter holidays will begin on July 3 and will last until the 14th. The decision is due to the recommendations of the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) for the care of children and teachers.
The general director of Early Childhood and Primary Education, Olga de Las Heras, explained that at the 4 and 5-year-old levels, of 37 business days, 32% of the children did not attend class for more than 20.
The hierarch stated that the definition of the education authorities was based on two aspects: on the one hand, the health related to the care of children and, on the other, the reference to the relationship with families. In this sense, he explained that the objective is to protect the health of children due to the effects of virus circulation within the Primary area, mainly in Initial Education and Special Education.
He also reported that more than 182,000 children will be considered through the collection networks so that they can receive food benefits for a period of 10 days. Parents of children who use the food service may attend with the identity card of the children to pay the corresponding charge for this concept.
De Las Heras clarified that the virtual teaching modality is not ruled out, a decision that has not yet been made. He added that, on the sidelines, the possibility is left open to teachers, in connection with families, through the Gurí-Family platform. The return to classes is set for Monday the 17th in face-to-face mode, unless the MSP recommends an extension of the vacations, he indicated.
