Judge postpones hearing of Coral and Coral 5G due to health difficulties in defendant

SANTO DOMINGO.- The chief judge of the Sixth Investigative Court of the National District, Yanibet Rivas, postponed the hearing of the Coral and Coral 5G cases for next Friday, January 27, starting at 9:00 in the morning, because one of the defendants presented health difficulties.

“Today we are leaving during the day because, as you can see, Mrs. Rosa Antonia Disla, the mother of Rafael Núñez de Aza, one of the accused front men, presented a health problem and the emergency doctor at the Abreu (Clinic) He recommended a five-day rest so that he can get better,” Pérez said.

“It’s nothing very complicated, but (the medical center) recommended that rest and by virtue of that, the judge postponed the hearing,” he added.

Similarly, the Public Ministry stressed that it continues to advance with the presentation of the accusation for administrative corruption of the aforementioned and said that so far they have presented 1,434 pieces of evidence during the preliminary hearing that is known in the Sixth Court of Instruction of the National District .

“Today was a day that despite the difficulties that occurred during the hearing, progress could be made.

We got to page 2,198 of the indictment, evidence 1,434,” said prosecutor Jonathan Pérez, who was part of the litigation team that represented the Public Ministry during the hearing against Major General Adán Cáceres Silvestre and the other accused of corruption. .

“We would have about 1,000 pages left to finish presenting the accusation. In other words, we are going much, much further than half, ”he stressed when answering questions from the press at the Ciudad Nueva Palace of Justice after the hearing concluded.

Jonathan Pérez represented the Public Ministry together with the litigating prosecutors Miguel Collado, Arolin Lemus, Melbin Romero and Emmanuel Ramírez.

The Coral and Coral 5G case file involves defendants for administrative corruption.

The Public Ministry filed charges for this crime against 48 people, 30 natural persons and 18 legal persons, accused of defrauding the Dominican State with more than 4,000 million pesos.

The network of corruption operated in the Presidential Security Corps (Cusep), the Specialized Tourist Security Corps (Cestur) and the National Council for Children and Adolescents (Conani).

In addition to Major General Cáceres Silvestre, among those accused of Operation Coral are Rossy Guzmán Sánchez (La Pastora), police corporal Tanner Antonio Flete Guzmán (son of the nun), police colonel Rafael Núñez de Aza and Army sergeant Alejandro Jose Montero Cruz.

In Operation Coral 5G, derived from Coral, Generals Juan Carlos Torres Robiou (FARD), Boanerges Reyes Batista (ARD) and Julio Camilo de los Santos Viola (FARD) were arrested, as well as the ship captain (ARD) Franklin Mata Flores and José Manuel Rosario Piron.

Carlos Lantigua, Alfredo Pichardo, Erasmo Roger Pérez, Jehohanan Lucía Rodríguez, Yehudy Blandesmil Guzmán and Esmeralda Ortega Polanco are also implicated in the case.
