The journalist Paulina de Allende-Salazar reappeared in the media after her noisy departure from Mega, due to an impasse suffered with the Carabineros in the midst of reporting the murder of non-commissioned officer Daniel Palma, Radio Biobio reported this Saturday.
In an interview with the magazine “Sábado”, the journalist launched a harsh criticism of Mega, and assured that the determination for her departure was “hasty”.
He also criticized the statement that the channel aired that Friday, specifically in the morning “Mucho Gusto.”
“How are you going to publish a press release without hearing me and in which only my mistake is mentioned. It’s fine, they have every right in the world to do so because I clearly made a mistake and I apologized to the shot, but they should not put a word about the relevance of the right to inform, for example, ”he indicated.
“I think it was a decision not sufficiently thought out. It is good that they have put the point in a mistake made by me, but that they did not think about the relevance of what we are experiencing, I do not know, perhaps they did not see it, perhaps it is not internalized, ”he added.
After that, he gave his opinion to what was done by General Álex Chaván that morning, who publicly stated that he would not give statements if the former Mucho Gusto journalist was present at the scene.
“What (the general) should have said to me or any other journalist was to say ‘those words are not relevant’, and the journalist would have answered ‘yes, sorry.’ But never veto the press, ”he said.
During the last days, several television faces have supported Paulina de Allende-Salazar, some even assuring that it was an act of censorship.
The journalist reflected on the latter, assuring that at the time she made a mistake (when referring to Corporal Palma as ‘paco’), but that she later apologized.
“In this country, with this level of tension, it is not trivial that journalists are afraid of reporting or being wrong. The important thing is to correct yourself. And the serious thing, for all of us, is to censor them, ”he said.
