The president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, affirmed that the former far-right candidate Edmundo González Urrutia fled Venezuela because the extremist María Corina Machado “had him on bread and water”
“One of the reasons why this coward of [Edmundo] González Urrutia left, in addition to fear, it was that this lady [María Corina Machado] I had it on bread and water. I had it with a car without air conditioning that did not lower the windows (…) It is sad, but it is true,” revealed the head of the Legislative Branch this Tuesday during the ordinary session of the AN.
He added that Machado gave González Urrutia $700 a month for his personal and office expenses.
Rodríguez denounced that the fled former candidate is now negotiating from Spain together with Antonio Ledezma and Leopoldo López the way to keep Citgo and the assets stolen from the Republic due to the blockade.
During the session, the speaker of parliament proposed the review of all the country’s electoral laws, with the sole purpose of updating them and aimed at protecting the people and destroying fraud in the Law.
He pointed out that some laws that regulate political parties “have become obsolete in light of these times,” and considers it appropriate to create a new Electoral Process Law.
