The plenary of the National Board of Justice (JNJ) dismissed the provisional supreme judge Carlos Segundo Ventura Cueva, determining that he incurred a very serious fault for having requested a position as a judge for his son-in-law in the judicial district of Callao.
The events occurred in 2017 in relation to the then president of the Superior Court of Justice of Callao, Walter Rios Montalvoan irregular situation that the person under investigation recognized, but on which he gave different versions.
In the presentation of Disciplinary Procedure 039-2021-JNJ by Vice President Antonio de la Haza, it was proven that with his conduct the supreme judge committed a serious infraction, having acted outside the regular channel of the procedure for appointing judges.
“By going outside the regular mechanisms (…), he reveals a personal benefit in favor of his son-in-law, of his family environment based on friendship, personal loyalties or closeness of any other type, with this his behavior moved away from the spotless condition”specified de la Haza in his presentation.
In this sense, the plenary session of the JNJ determined that Carlos Segundo Ventura Cueva committed very serious offenses provided for in article 48, subsections 4 and 13 of the Judicial Career Law, and imposed the sanction of dismissal by unanimous vote.
