Jesús Mendoza, president of the FCU-UCV, recalled that registrations for candidates for rectors and deans will soon open after 15 years
The president of the Federation of University Centers of the Central University of Venezuela (FCU-UCV), Jesús Mendoza, recalled on the night of Sunday, April 9, that the registration period for the plates begins in 10 days and those interested in applying for the elections of that house of studies, which will allow the change of authorities, including rectors and deans.
According to their accounts, the day itself would be Wednesday April 19 but, since it is a national holiday, it is likely that registrations will begin on Thursday the 20th of that month.
Through TwitterMendoza explained that the last days are already beginning to run to form the plates of the candidates who aspire to the rectorate and the 11 deaneries of the UCV, recalling that the first round of the election will be held on May 26.
According to the information he published, the student vote does represent in this election within the UCV since it is 25% of the universe of professors who vote, that is, for each vote of a professor they are equivalent to 29 of the students.

The University Council of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) approved the Wednesday January 18 the holding of elections in that house of study to elect the new authorities, after 15 years without carrying out a process of this type. For the elections, it was decided not to have the technical assistance of the National Electoral Council (CNE), but rather with the machines that the institution already has, according to the outgoing rector, Cecilia Garcia Arocha.
According to information handled by the office of the Rector of the UCV, the candidates for rectors are: Amalio Belmonte (Faces); Victor Rago (Faces); Enrique Lopez-Loyo (Medicine); Rómulo Orta (Faces-Medicine); Humberto Rojas (sciences); Paulino Betancourt (sciences) and Miguel Alfonzo (medicine).
It is expected that these elections to choose the authorities, deans and professorial representatives before the co-government will take place on May 26, 2023; a decision that was made unanimously. If a second round is needed, it would be for June 2.
