The Itapemirim Group decided to suspend the operations of the airline, ITA, this Friday night. According to the company, the stoppage is temporary “for an internal restructuring”. The measure caused confusion among the company’s passengers who were already waiting to board at airports.
In a note published in the site, the company advised customers with tickets purchased for the next few days not to go to airports before talking to ITA. This contact must be made through the email [email protected].
ITA began operations at the end of June and operated at the airports of São Paulo-Guarulhos (SP), Brasília (DF), Belo Horizonte-Confins (MG), Rio de Janeiro-Galeão (RJ), Porto Alegre (RS), Porto Seguro (BA), Salvador (BA), Curitiba (PR), Fortaleza (CE), Florianópolis (SC), Maceió (AL), Natal (RN) and Recife (PE).
protests in Guarulhos
The administrator of Guarulhos International Airport, in São Paulo, advises ITA passengers to seek information about flights with the company before heading to the airport.
On Friday night, passengers caught by surprise by the suspension of ITA flights protested in the airport lobby.
According to Gru Airport’s press office, ITA passengers are still present at the airport and the situation in the lobby is not normalized.

“The Itapemirim Group informs that on its own initiative it temporarily suspended the operations of its airline, ITA, in the early evening of this Friday (17) for an internal restructuring.
The decision was taken due to the need for operational adjustments. ANAC (National Civil Aviation Agency) has already been informed of the decision.
ITA regrets the inconvenience caused and states that it will continue to provide all assistance to impacted passengers, as provided for in ANAC resolution 400.
The company advises passengers with trips scheduled for the next few days not to attempt to check in online and not show up at airports before contacting the airline. All passengers must contact the email [email protected]. The company will make every effort to resume its flights soon.
The Itapemirim Group also informs that this decision does not affect the provision of road transport services, through Viação Itapemirim, whose operations follow normally.”
