In her first days as a senator, Irene Moreira already asked for a two-day leave, as confirmed to the press by her husband and also a senator for the Cabildo Abierto, Guido Manini Ríos.
After it became known that Moreira handed over at least five houses directly and without competition to a Cabildo Abierto militant, a former domestic worker of hers and other people, she had to leave her place as Minister of Housing and Territorial Planning.
This caused a sharp rift in the multicolored coalition and, although the Cabildo Abierto decided to stay, it unleashed its criticism and conditions towards the government of Luis Lacalle Pou.
For now, according to Manini Ríos, his wife’s leave is for two days, and no further details of the reasons or motives for this request have been disclosed.
