The Uruguayan Institute of Meteorology (Inumet) issued a yellow alert for strong storms this Sunday afternoon.
The agency’s warning governs for the north of the country until 6:30 p.m. or “in the event of significant changes”.
The recorded atmospheric disturbance can generate “occasionally strong storms,” the statement highlights. “It should be noted that in storm zones it will be possible to register intense rains in short periods, occasional hail, intense electrical activity and strong gusts of wind”, detailed Inumet.
Specifically, the affected localities are:
Artigas: Artigas, Baltasar Brum, Bella Unión, Bernabé Rivera, Cainsa, Colonia Palma, Coronado, Diego Lamas, Franquia, Javier de Viana, Mones Quintela, Paso Campamento, Iron Gates and Campodónico, Santa Rosa del Cuareim, Sequeira, Tomás Gomensoro and Bulldozer.
