Internet speed in Latin America and the prominent position of Uruguay

According to the report Worldwide Broadband Speed ​​League 2022which tracked network connection speeds in 220 countries, access to fast broadband is still highly uneven around the world.

In Latin America and the Caribbean, the country best positioned in download speed is Chilewhich is ranked number 27 in the global ranking, with an average of 89.18 megabits per second (Mbps). They are followed by Uruguay, in position 42 with 59.29 Mbps, and Brazil, three places below with 53.89 Mbps. For their part, both Colombia, Peru and Panama exceed a broadband connection speed of 30 Mbps, while Mexico it appears slightly lower with 27.62 Mbps.

At the other end of the ranking, Cuba ranks as the Latin American country with the worst broadband transmission. With only 3.26 Mbps, the Caribbean country ranked 203rd worldwide, below Venezuela, in 187th place, with 4.47 Mbps.
