The requirements to apply for the Indigenous Scholarship include being of indigenous origin, duly accredited by the National Corporation for Indigenous Development (Conadi). In addition, students must have obtained a minimum average of 4.5 in higher education for freshmen and 5.0 for 4th grade graduates entering their first year of higher education. It is also necessary to belong to the corresponding section of the Social Registry of Households (RSH), which must not exceed 60%.
It is important to take into account that foreign students, those who are studying postgraduate courses and those who have a technical or professional degree cannot apply for this benefit of the Indigenous Scholarship. Likewise, the beneficiaries must be enrolled in higher education institutions recognized by the State.
The amounts of the Indigenous Scholarship vary by educational level. For basic education students, the amount amounts to $100,550, payable in two semester installments. In the case of secondary school students, the amount is $208,280, also in two semester installments. For higher education students, the annual reference amount is $654,600, distributed in up to 10 installments per year.
