The Children’s Republic of the city of La Plata, a property with scale public buildings and several story castles that was inaugurated in 1951 by the then president Juan Domingo Perón, put into operation a new train, with modern and accessible wagons, that runs through the entire place of the traditional platense walk.
It is a new train that was launched this Friday and that is added to the routes of the old train.
“This new train is 100% accessible for children with disabilities,” said Mayor Julio Garro from La Plata and explained that the vehicle has adapted rooms.
The reform of the attraction included the installation of a new locomotive, with a completely inclusive structure and similar in appearance to those that circulate today.
Within the framework of this work plan, the municipality of La Plata also made improvements to the station, located in the central part of the park, where the paint was renewed, security cameras were installed and a series of interventions were carried out to make it completely inclusive.
“The works that we have done during this management to recover the Gonnet property demonstrate the value of such an emblematic place in La Plata that once again became a source of pride for all the residents,” said the community chief.
For his part, the Secretary of Culture and Education, Martiniano Ferrer Picado, stressed that “these actions allow us to improve the educational and cultural quality of the park.”
According to the municipality, the Children’s Republic, located on the General Belgrano Road, currently has all its operational attractions, including the ship, the historical archive, the plane, the airport and the institutional buildings.
The Children’s Republic is a city with 35 small buildings made to the scale of a 10-year-old child and each one of them was built mixing different architectural styles and inspired by famous buildings that rise in different parts of the world.
Its construction began in 1949 and it was inaugurated in 1951 by the then president Juan Domingo Perón and at that time it was one of the largest and best designed theme parks in the world.
It is currently being remodeled, although the first stage of the works will be completed on August 20, on the occasion of the celebrations for Children’s Day.
