IDAC reports normalization of flights from the DR to the US and Canada

SANTO DOMINGO. -The Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC) reported on Tuesday the resumption of regular flights suspended by the winter storm that in recent days affected the Eastern United States and several cities in Canada.

The interim director general of IDAC, Héctor Porcella, revealed that all the international airports in the country reported the normalization of the flow of flights with the cities of the United States and Canada where restrictions on aeronautical operations had been registered due to the atmospheric phenomenon.

“The information that we have received since the early hours of this Tuesday is that the cold storm has begun to weaken both in the United States and in Canada, facilitating the normalization of flights that connect the Dominican Republic with those countries,” said Porcella. .

He indicated that for meteorological reasons there is no situation that affects the entry and exit of passengers at national airports, which in his opinion is very good news for Dominican tourism and its goal of exceeding the historical figure of 7 million tourists in the year 2022.

“Despite the cancellations of 39 flights from the United States and Canada since Thursday of last week, the Dominican Republic is on track to register the largest number of aeronautical operations in the month of December and throughout the year, as we had announced in the recent past”, pointed out the interim head of the IDAC.
