Huracán, with a goal from “Zorro” Matías Cóccaro, prevailed tonight over a lackluster Boca Juniors who returned to La Bombonera and left them undefeated in the Professional League Cup in a match on the fifth date of Zone B.

“El Globo”, third in its area with 9 points, obtained a historical result, since it did not win on that field 12 years ago when it won 2-1 in the Clausura 2010, on May 9 of that year.

The Uruguayan made the difference 24 minutes into the second half with a header from Agustín Rossi’s corner to the right post.

Boca felt too much the absence of its scorer and figure Darío Benedetto, who did not play due to the death of his grandmother and also because he felt severe muscle pain that made him withdraw from practice on Saturday.

Apart from not having the “Pipa”, Boca also failed again in the assembly of the game, a task that only the Paraguayan Óscar Romero accepted acceptably, who had a performance from highest to lowest.

For the third game, the technical director Sebastián Battaglia tried again with a classic 4-3-1-2 but the midfielders (weak performance by Guillermo “Pol” Fernández and Juan Ramírez) did not weigh and the forwards were left without supply, well controlled in the opponent’s defensive structure.

At minute 24 of the final stage, after a corner taken by Franco Cristaldo, Cóccaro did not spare a header and with a cross header he made it 1-0. Once again Boca’s defense did not react to a set piece as had happened to Colón, Rosario Central and Independent.

At the beginning of the match, Huracán had already warned by counting on a good arrival from Ismael Quilez on the right that ended in a header by Cóccaro deflected to the corner by Rossi.

It was a warning for a Boca defense that once again suffered from crosses.

Then the locals began to take over the middle through Jorman Campuzano but all their play was at the feet of Romero, who moved to the right behind Cabral and Cristaldo’s backs.

The Paraguayan midfielder showed touches of his quality in some passes to the clear, taking advantage of Luis Advincula’s raises and others leaving Nicolás Orsini in goal position.

Benedetto’s replacement defined poorly the two times he was close to Marcos Díaz’s goal.

With Romero as the only hope of soccer in the middle, Boca suffered a bad night from Ramirez and “Pol” Fernandez and the insignificance of Colombian Sebastián Villa, who could never weigh in attack.

Precisely a free kick from the Paraguayan, which went just above the crossbar and hit the top of the net, was Boca’s clearest opportunity.

Huracán waited and little by little he was encouraged, within a barely discreet procedure and with few arrivals. At the end of the stage, a cross from Cristaldo grazed Rossi’s left post.

But then Huracán was smart, he hit first and knew how to handle the result in his favour, fortune was also on his side in the end when a shot from the youthful Vázquez hit the crossbar of a Marcos Díaz who could do nothing.

The end came with the celebration of the visiting players and a clear request from the Boca fans: “We have to win against River” for the superclassic that will be played in two weeks at the Monumental.

Boca will travel to La Plata the next day to play against Estudiantes, for now the leader of Zone B, and Huracán will receive Godoy Cruz de Mendoza.
