Spain gave the approval for Quirino Ordaz Coppel, former PRI governor of Sinaloa, to be the new Mexican ambassador to that country, confirming what the Spanish Foreign Minister, José Manuel Albares, told this newspaper a week ago , with respect to the fact that there was no difficulty in accepting the appointment and that it was in the administrative process.
In social networks, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Marcelo Ebrard, thanked Albares his good offices and sympathy for Mexico
after the approval was given to the appointment of Ordaz Coppel, which will allow him to present his credentials to the Spanish State and thus take the reins of the Mexican diplomatic delegation.
Ebrard commented that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Spain sent a letter to the Mexican government in which it reported its decision.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation presents its compliments to the Mexican embassy and is honored to inform you that the Spanish government has granted its approval in favor of Hon. Mr. Quirino Ordaz Coppel, as extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the United Mexican States to the Kingdom of Spain,” the letter says.
The Spanish response, which is dated yesterday, Friday, January 28, will be turned over to the Ministry of the Interior so that the former governor can begin his work as a diplomat.
I share with you, on the instructions of President López Obrador, the approval granted to Quirino Ordaz as ambassador of our country to the Kingdom of Spain. I proceed to turn it over to the Ministry of the Interior for the purposes of law
Ebrard said on his Twitter account.
The atypical delay in the granting of the approval document has provoked numerous speculations in recent weeks that are added to the alleged current poor bilateral relations between the two countries.
Last week, Minister Albares assured the day that the approval followed a normal administrative process and that no difficulty had been encountered.
