The outgoing rector of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV), Cecilia García-Arocha, affirmed this Thursday, May 26, that her main mark left in her management was the defense of university autonomy and explained that, at the beginning of her activities at the In front of that house of studies, that point was in one of the last after having done a survey then, but he assured that it currently occupies the first place in the interest of the university community.

He pointed out that, in addition to the administrative and managerial management of that house of studies, the right to a larger budget was also defended. For this reason, he believes that the challenge for the team that succeeds her will be to continue preserving university autonomy and access to resources.

In García Arocha’s opinion, this point of defending autonomy could have influenced the issue of the budget, in addition to the fact that it is linked to the loss of purchasing power within the UCV.
