The former president Francis Sagasti announced a draft constitutional reform that proposes a early general election for the month of April 2023. “The proposal is called citizen consensus and proposes a cut in the presidency of the Executive and Legislative, in such a way that the new authorities take command on July 28, 2023 and complete the period during the last three years (…) The measure will go through Congress to be approved and then ratified in a referendum,” Sagasti told RPP.
Likewise, he stated that his initiative includes the proposals of the political groups of Avanza País, Podemos Perú, Perú Libre and non-grouped, who also presented projects for the advancement of elections, but in this case with a commitment to reform some points of the Constitution. .
