Former High Commands, politicians and groups request an opposition parliamentarian for the presidency of Congress

Through a statement, former High Command of the Armed forcespolitical figures and groups, exhorted the Congress to present a unitary candidacy of the opposition to elect the new president of Parliament, after the censorship against Lady Camones Last Tuesday.

“The undersigned Collectives and citizens demand that in the Congress of the Republic a unitary candidacy of the Democratic Opposition is presented to the Presidency of the Congress”, can be read in the statement.

“We demand of congressmen with firm ideas of freedom and democracy that they lay down any personal or group interest and think of Peru by proposing the most suitable person to preside over this fundamental power of the State,” he indicates.

Why was Lady Camones censored?

With 61 votes in favor, 47 against and 5 abstentions, the motion presented by various pro-government parliamentary benches to remove from the presidency of the Board of Directors the person who had been elected as successor to María del Carmen Alva on July 26 was approved.

On Friday, September 2, the Epicentro TV portal broadcast several recordings that were made during a party meeting held that same week between APP militants, congressmen from their caucus and its founder César Acuña, current candidate for the Regional Government of La Libertad.

In the first report on these audios, Acuña Peralta is heard pressuring Lady Camones and other members of APP to expedite the approval of the bill sent by the Executive to create the Alto Trujillo district.

If we generate that, this week you have to get the opinion of the Decentralization Commission, send it, ta ta, and next week it enters the plenary session and the next week Lady leaves and delivers the law to Trujillo “said the current candidate for the Regional Government of La Libertad by APP.

As part of this conversation, Lady Camones is heard backing the idea of ​​the project in favor of Alto Trujillo, even setting aside an agreement she had previously had with Congressman Carlos Anderson on the Chavimochic project.

“I already committed to him (Carlos Anderson) but he has not gotten the votes. Then […] It’s not going to help you, president, that. I think so about Alto Trujillo, it is a popular topic”he indicated.

Acuña, Camones and the vacancy

The second report of Epicentro TV, broadcast on Saturday, September 3, contains more audios where César Acuña, Lady Camones and other APP congressmen are in favor of the presidential vacancy against Pedro Castillo instead of the advancement of elections that people like Keiko Fujimori.

“I think there should be a statement, a message so that Peruvians know that we are not shielding Castillo. And those 34 days for me are key, key, key. They should not relate me to Castillo”insists Acuña, alluding to the days remaining for the October 2 elections.

Lady Camones also joins the support in favor of the vacancy motion that, to date, has been promoted by the non-grouped Edward Málaga.

“The closest solution is not the advancement of elections, because in a month or two, Castillo falls and, with him, suddenly, we fall. So, we have to be responsible in that sense. The advance, I think, at least one year. And in a year, Castillo destroyed everything, us too.” warns the then president of the Legislative.
