Former drug trafficker Gilberto Rodríguez Orejuela died in the United States

RCN World confirmed that In the last few hours, the former head of the ‘Cali Cartel’, Gilberto Rodríguez Orejuela, died in the United States.

This man known as ‘the chess player’, was captured on June 9, 1995 in a luxurious apartment in the Valle del Cauca capital, while hiding from the authorities in a false wall inside that building.

Gilberto Rodríguez Orejuela was born on January 30, 1939 in Mariquita (Tolima) and was 83 years old. After the death of Pablo Escobar in 1992, the ‘Cali Cartel’ that this man founded, came to control 80% of the cocaine exported from Colombia to the United States.
