The Chancellor of the Republic, Yván Gil, criticized the “imperial and neocolonial arrogance” of his counterpart from the Netherlands, Caspar Veldkamp, who disapproved of the Bolivarian Government’s gesture of keeping the channels of dialogue between both countries open.

Gil stressed that the Netherlands “has a dark history in recent years,” which includes the support and logistics provided to fascist groups that have tried to sow violence in Venezuela.
The Bolivarian Foreign Minister’s statements are a response to Veldkamp’s statements against the National Government and President Nicolás Maduro.
Likewise, earlier this Tuesday the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry demanded respect for the sovereignty and self-determination of the country, in the face of the hostile behavior of the Governments of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, France and Italy; Therefore, it decided to limit the number of diplomats accredited to each embassy to three.
