President Alberto Fernández received this Saturday at the Olivos residence the deputy prime minister and head of Israel’s Justice portfolio, Gideon Sa’ar, who is participating in Buenos Aires in the tributes for the 30th anniversary of the attack on the Embassy, and during the meeting, the head of state assured that Argentina has “an important historical position in terms of human rights and the condemnation of terrorism”.
According to the Presidency, the president assured that the national government wants to “continue strengthening our bond” with Israel, a possibility that is enhanced by the “great Jewish community” that the country has.
For his part, Deputy Prime Minister Sa’ar thanked Fernández “for his first trip as president was to Israel” to participate in January in the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau.
“With so many Jews in Argentina and so many Argentines in Israel, the potential between our countries is going to be greater,” Sa’ar reflected, stressing that “we share the same values and the same desires.”
The representatives of both countries agreed on the importance of “continuing to make the necessary efforts to ensure that the guilty are judged and thus achieve justice for the victims and for both nations,” added the statement from the Presidency of the Nation.
The president was accompanied during the meeting by Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero.

The Israeli ambassador, Ronen Galit, and the Deputy Director General for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jonathan Peled, also attended.
The Israeli deputy prime minister traveled accompanied by relatives of victims and survivors, to Argentina to be present at the acts of homage for the attack perpetrated against the Israeli Embassy on March 17, 1992.
Sa’ar participated in the activities of the act held in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Retiro, where the attack took place 30 years ago, of the Latin American Jewish Congress that took place in Buenos Aires, and also held meetings with other organizations of the local Jewish community .
