During the execution of the Catatumbo Lightning operation, the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) seized in the state Zulia four drones belonging to the group Terrorists Armed Drug Traffickers of Colombia (Tancol).
The information was released by the head of the FANB Strategic Operational Command (Ceofanb) Domingo Hernández Lárez, through his account on the social network Twitter, in which he indicated that the operation was carried out when the troops were carrying out maneuvers on occasion of the Bolivarian Shield operation. He also informed that these teams were doing reconnaissance in the Venezuelan geographic space.
“FANB seizes in the Catatumbo Lightning Operation, 4 drones belonging to #tancol groups, which were navigating in national territory doing reconnaissance in our geographical space,” published Hernández Lárez, along with a video showing the seized drones.

FANB against illegal mining
Similarly, the head of Ceofanb reported that while carrying out patrol work, FANB troops detected a camp with weapons and supplies, used by criminal groups for illegal mining.
“The establishment of structures for illegal purposes in our territory will not be allowed,” Hernández Lárez reiterated in relation to the fight against illegal mining in the country.
This procedure is added to the one carried out in Bolívar state, where the FANB located a logistic fuel depot used for illegal mining.
As will be recalled, the deposit was found in security zones and areas protected by the State, and was used for activities to destroy nature and depredation of the environment, which represents a serious threat to the region’s biodiversity and sustainability. .
