Fake news: Primary school children in Canelones shouting "Long live the Broad Front"?

long live the sixth year

During Thursday, a very poor quality video filmed with a cell phone in which a group of students danced and shouted various slogans circulated on social networks. Dancing a pericón with handkerchiefs, first they shout “Long live the homeland!” And then “Long live the school!”, Repeating what a man says through loudspeakers. But it was the third sentence that generated a discussion on social networks because, because the audio is of very poor quality and was interpreted by some people as if the minors were saying “Long live the Broad Front!”

From the multicolored coalition they ran to shout to heaven. One of the first was the departmental mayor of Montevideo for the National Party, Diego Rodríguez, who assured without hesitation that a partisan political phrase had been shouted, and commented on his Twitter account: “From the creators of Education, Education, Education, The ‘Long Live the Broad Front’ arrives at a school event. I hope that the authorities will react immediately and those responsible will be expelled as soon as possible. The inheritance that left us 15 years of decline ”.

But who made the first complaint of this alleged fact was the nationalist deputy, Alfonso Lereté, who presented it to the Central Directive Council (Codicen) of the National Public Education Administration (Anep). The president of Codicen, Robert Silva, gave rise to the complaint and began an investigation by the Canelones Inspection.

The white senator, Graciela Bianchi, also came out to demand that the case be analyzed, who said that she “hoped” that the audio was altered.

What they really said

Criticizing the spread of fake news, the deputy for the Broad Front (MPP), Sebastián Sabini, said: “Let’s stop with stupidity, how can a teacher shout long live the Broad Front? There are already witnesses who say that it was not like that and in the audio it is heard; “sixth year!”. Let’s put a limit on the persecution, disrespect and handle ”.

Juan Pablo García, representative of the Canelones educators’ union, referred to the controversy that took place in the Casarono elementary school. “The thread you are entering is very complex, find the fifth for the cat. This affects the teacher, he has an impeccable track record. It does not enter anyone’s head. Now everything goes viral and that video generates problems, “he said, quoted by the radio program El Megáfono. Pando 89.3FM. “Whoever makes the video viral has a clear intention to harm public education. It would be good for them to come to the school to give a hand and not to criticize, “added the educator.

The journalist Diego González, commented: “I understand that there are people who are in bad shape, but how bad you have to be to think that a group of schoolchildren dancing the pericón shouts” Long live the Broad Front “in a year-end ceremony of the school. I mean, it’s funny, but that there are media that repeat this is not serious. “

Some parents of the minors present came out to deny the rumors, and clarified that what the students really shouted was “Long live the sixth year!”, And that they had not become political with public and secular education.
