Explosion in Villa Biarritz: An artisanal connection caused the gas leak

Judge Dolores Sánchez requested the reopening of the investigation into the explosion in a building in Villa Biarritz that shocked the national society 3 months ago. The Fire Chief, Ricardo Riaño said about the reopening that “For us it means nothing because the expert file is already completed.”

“The conclusion reached by our experts is forceful, with objective, relevant data and we will support it until the last moment,” added Riaño.

“Who has the burden to refute that conclusion are those who think otherwise. We are convinced of what we do, with our professional work according to the training and education that we have,” Riaño remarked about the case.

As reported, the Fire Department’s expertise showed that the disconnection of a hose was reliably verified, which was an artisanal type connection that allowed the leak.

Dolores Sánchez led to the reopening of the investigation at the request of relatives of the victims and insurance companies.

The explosion left 2 people dead, 11 injured and millions in material damage.
