Expica 2022 is buried after the dispossession of its legal personality

After the illegalization of the Association for Agricultural Development of Nicaragua, participants in the annual fair of the Livestock Exhibition of the Central American Isthmus (Expica), it was reported that the event scheduled to start tomorrow, Thursday, July 21, has been cancelled.

The magazine The Brahman Journal lamented that the event of great magnitude, which brings together the Central American livestock sector, businessmen from Mexico, the United States and even Colombia, has been suspended.

“It is with great sadness that we announce that the Permanent EXPICA in Nicaragua has been cancelled. We hoped to see all our friends and the great Brahman Cattle at the event,” the magazine published in its Facebook page.

Expica is a regional organization based in Nicaragua, led by Óscar Sobalvarro, former presidential candidate of Ciudadanos por La Libertad (CXL) in 2021 before the political group was outlawed.

So far, the directors of the organization remain “silent” before the dispossession of their legal personality and have not shared a statement on the official website of the fair about the cancellation of the event.

The annual fair was scheduled to take place from July 21 to 31 in the country, and the organizers planned to have the presence of several exhibitors and the exhibition of some 600 cattle.

The twenty-seventh permanent Expica 2022 fair would have livestock exhibitions and its offer would include all kinds of agricultural products, supplies and machinery, as well as the sale of new vehicles.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the EXPICA Permanente in Nicaragua has been cancelled. We were looking forward to seeing all our friends and the great Brahman Cattle at the event.

At least 180 large companies, 60 MSMEs (medium and small companies) and about 25 entrepreneurs would participate in the event. In addition, they expected to generate around five thousand temporary jobs and the visit of some 80 thousand people to the fair.

Erick Montero, technical secretary of the Central American Federation of the Dairy Sector (Fecalac), in an interview with Confidencial, considered the closure of Expica Nicaragua to be of “great concern, which has been characterized as the showcase to promote the genetic improvement of livestock regional, and an important training point.”

The onslaught of the Daniel Ortega regime against Expica only leaves great monetary losses, since some companies were preparing to establish themselves in their stalls, while foreigners who would participate in the fair did not have time to cancel their trips and lost their money.
