Saltillo, Coah., About a hundred students from the Faculty of Medicine of the Autonomous University of Coahuila denounced threats to interns in rural areas of the state, for which they made a peaceful march through the streets of the capital to demand security.

Jesús Ángel Padilla, director of the faculty, pointed out that his students are concerned about the insecurity that exists in remote communities, where at least five cases of students who have been harassed have been reported.

We need the communities themselves, the municipal presidencies, and public security to focus on dealing with this type of problem and guarantee the safety of the people who go in good faith to provide a service to the community and try to solve its health problems. more basicsaid the doctor.

The most serious case is that of a young woman assigned to the Fraustro ejido, in Ramos Arizpe, who had a head of cattle nailed to a pole near the fence of the health center where she was assigned, and they also left a banner with threats.

Others have denounced being chased by strangers in vans, while they go to their communities to provide services, so they decided to take to the streets before something serious happens, as happened in Durango, where the young doctor Enrique Alan N. was assassinated by a patient.

There are potential risk areas referred to by students where they have been chased in vans and have even gone to knock on the doors of their homes; situations that fortunately have not transcended more, but we do not want the child to drown and then cover the well, taking as experience what happened in DurangoPadilla added.

He stressed that although Coahuila is usually a safe entity, it can be improved, so they hope to have some rapprochement with authorities from the State Health and Public Safety Secretariat, to raise their concerns and ensure the safety of doctors.
