The extension of the widow’s pension, the revision of the required years of marriage and concubinage to manage the pension cause and the incorporation of articles on situations of disability, are some of the changes presented to the reform project of the social security system, after the appearance of authorities in Parliament.
The Minister of Economy and Finance, Azucena Arbeleche, and the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Pablo Mieres, headed this Wednesday the 22nd the Executive delegation that appeared before the special commission for the treatment of the bill that establishes the common pension system.
After the meeting, Mieres expressed in a press conference that the modifications are the result of the dialogue with the legislators of the coalition and also of the analysis of the appearances that took place during the last time.
In addition, it is expected to adjust the limits and guarantees of the investments abroad of the Pension Savings Fund Administrators (AFAP) to reduce their risks, he indicated, accompanied by the Undersecretary of Labor and Social Security, Mario Arizti; the director of the Office of Planning and Budget (OPP), Isaac Alfie; the president of the Banco de Previsión Social, Alfredo Cabrera, and the head of the Commission of Experts on Social Security, Rodolfo Saldain.
Mieres added that the possibility of incorporating the concerns expressed by organizations linked to the issue of disability will be considered. Likewise, these changes provide for the reduction of the required years of residence for migrants to access the right to a pension.
