Energy efficiency projects lead to savings of up to 10%

The projects of they generate savings between 5% and 10%, assured the manager of Sales and Customer Management of Fenix, Silvia Jiménez.

This is determined after carrying out an energy audit, and the improvements can be from changes in processes, promotion of a culture of energy saving, and even the installation of more efficient equipment.

He also recalled that next March 5 marks World Energy Efficiency Day, a date aimed at raising awareness among people and companies about the rational and efficient use of energy, and its importance for the sustainability of the planet.

“This is how energy efficiency, like renewable energy, becomes a key axis to promote decarbonization and the country’s energy transition, including the industrial sector,” he commented.

However, he added that this positive environmental impact, and consequently, its respective reputational value, are not the only benefits that companies can have when implementing energy efficiency plans and projects. “Cost savings are another equally important benefit,” he said.

Faced with this, the Fenix executive stated that it is necessary for companies to seek to implement projects that are economically sustainable and, at the same time, contribute to caring for the environment, while saving costs.

“In a market analysis that we carried out with the objective of knowing how energy efficiency is at an industrial level, we found that a large part of industrial companies do not have proper energy management,” he said.

From the regulatory aspect, in Peru there are no regulations that promote the application of energy management policies or systems in companies, as is the case in Chile, where our parent company operates.

“The neighboring country requires companies with large energy consumption to implement an energy management system, ISO50001 or another similar one, and report their certification, energy performance and saving projects implemented and to be implemented. Its main purpose is to reduce energy intensity by at least 10% by 2030 compared to 2019 ″, he specified.
