A magnitude 6.6 earthquake affected several sectors of Ecuador this Saturday, with Quito, Guayaquil and Cuenca being the most affected areas with building collapses.
According to the Geophysical Institute at 12:21 this Saturday, the earthquake of 6.6 degrees on the Richter scale was recorded, with an epicenter on Puná Island, Guayas province, 44 km deep.
In addition, an aftershock was reported, at 12:22 a 4.6 degree aftershock, 24 km deep.
So far, no fatalities have been reported, but after the collapse of several houses, the authorities do not rule out that deaths can be counted after a more in-depth assessment of the damage.
