Libelo in review commission

The libel, which is currently being processed in a review committee of the Chamber of Deputies, arose as a result of the journalistic investigation “Pandora Papers”, regarding the sale of the Dominga Mine and the operation between the Piñera family and the friend of President Carlos Alberto Délano in the British Virgin Islands.

According to the text entered by the opposition, the constitutional accusation against President Sebastián Piñera is justified for having “infringed the principle of probity” and compromising the “honor of the country”. “It is not an isolated act of greed or use of power for their own benefit,” they point out in the opposition, recalling the history of cases at odds with probity that the President has starred in.

As of Wednesday, October 27, the commission has invited 47 people, of whom at least a third did not attend, among them the National Prosecutor Jorge Abbott and the former prosecutor Manuel Guerra – who led the first criminal investigation of the Exalmar case, where he was the edge Dominga.

The deadline for the President to present his response expires on October 28 and the commission will receive President Piñera’s lawyers on Thursday.

The instance will meet until next Friday, the day where the non-binding report will be voted on, which will then be taken to the Chamber of the Corporation.
