Doctor Alfredo Moltó clarifies the definition of close contact by Covid-19

The doctor made this clarification, since he argued that we are going to be in very close contact or communication with infected people at a given moment.

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) published Resolution 29 of January 14, 2022 in the Official Gazette, which makes it clear what a “close community contact” and a “contact in a health environment” are.

Dr. Alfredo Molto, director of the School of Public Health of the University of Panama and advisor to the Superior Office of the Minsa, clarified that close community, work or family contact is the person who has maintained communication or contact with one who has been previously positive in a closed environment less than 2 meters away and without wearing the mask or improperly used.

Regarding close health contact, he explained that it refers to health personnel who care for positive patients or those with other pathologies, without using the recommended protective equipment.

The doctor made this clarification, since he argued that we are going to be in very close contact or communication with infected people at a given moment.

He recalled that being vaccinated does not guarantee that a person will be infected with the virus, but rather prevents hospitalization, severe complications, and even death.
