The undersecretary of the Ministry of Housing, Christian Di Candia, reported how the transition to the new government is going with the new authorities. According to him, they have been working with the future minister, Cecilia Cairo, and have received each of the directors who are going to be in charge of the different departments of the Ministry, with the aim of planning the work and marking the lines that they will follow. take place starting March 1.
The objective is to be able to work together with the different areas of the Ministry so that they are articulated and can work with a single window of the National Housing System. “This requires joint work by the different agencies and full knowledge of who will be in charge of each of the areas,” reported the undersecretary.
He said that this week they will announce the names of the directors who will work in the different areas of the Ministry. “We need to define some specifically” but it is assumed that between this Wednesday and Thursday “the entire Ministry will have defined and we will present them,”
He reported that the programmatic aspiration of the new Ministry authorities is that housing for the Uruguayan people “ceased being an unattainable utopia and could become a reality.”
He pointed out that one issue “is the construction of housing, then there is the purchase of used housing, and there is also the rental subsidy. We have to see how the first home plan is going to be implemented, which was a commitment of the president and vice president elected in the Colonia Bullring. It depends on how these instruments are articulated, how many housing solutions there will be. I think the important thing is to keep in mind that these instruments have to be managed together.”
