Despite returning to Twitter, Donald Trump stays on his social network for now

Donald Trump, who was expelled from that social network in early January 2021, refused to return to Twitter at least for now. He said that he would be on Truth Social, his own platform, while he did not consider it necessary for his voice to be reactivated on the network that Elon Musk now runs.

After voting on Twitter, the company’s owner, Elon Musk, returned his account on that social network to former President Donald Trump after it was suspended due to events known as the “assault on Congress” on January 6, 2021.

Musk asked users around the world, through a survey, if they wanted Trump to return to Twitter. 51.8% of the people who voted did so in favor of the return of the former president, while 48.2% voted against a universe of 134 million people who saw the survey.

“The people have spoken. Trump will be reinstated,” Twitter’s new owner Elon Musk tweeted Saturday night. “Vox Populi, Vox Dei”, in Latin, “the voice of the people is the voice of God”.

However, this weekend Donald Trump asserted that for the moment he has no interest in returning to Twitter and he also did not thank the citizens who voted on that social network, nor Musk for having considered the opinion of the users. “I don’t see any reason for it,” he told the annual leadership meeting of the Republican Jewish Coalition.

He said that he would stay in Truth Social, the social network he created after being silenced on Twitter due to the riots generated in the “assault on Congress” of which he is accused of being the instigator of the population to carry out these protests to prevent them from Joe Biden was proclaimed President of the United States.

Trump’s Twitter account is reactivated after they registered mass resignations at that company after an ultimatum from Elon Musk, the company’s owner and boss for three weeks, who asked employees who survived an initial wave of layoffs to choose between giving themselves “completely, unconditionally” or leaving.

“I may be exceptional, but (…) I’m not stalwart,” tweeted a former employee of the platform, Andrea Horst, whose LinkedIn profile still reads “Supply Chain & Capacity Management (surviving) @Twitter.”
